Jackie and Bobby set out to have different conversations, ones that were straight-up and didn't shy away from the hard topics. They hoped to shine light on controversial and uncomfortable concepts. I was there from day one to guide the mission and vision statements and work to execute their vision - researching equipment, training on-site setup and breakdown, and delivering each edit with consistent quality.
Started this business with my wife with the mission to inspire confidence in women by providing high-quality, modest apparel that elegantly presents the Catholic faith.
I was asked to handle this project from start to finish. For pre-production, I handled all the planning and coordination for this shoot, which included scheduling and communicating to guests, booking travel for Fr. Blake, and set planning. For production, I was a one-man band. I had to make sure I had Bobby and Fr. Blake in a good frame, facilitated a video connection with the external interviewee, provide audio connection to all members, and ensure both ends were being captured simultaneously. I handled the entire post-production process for this, which included the animation for the introduction and the picture-in-picture layout. The show garnered widespread notoriety, with the collection of videos totaling approximately 150,000 views.
I was tasked with shooting and editing this as a one-man band. The vision was to capture it, make it look fun, and present it accurate to the tone of the weekend. I employed a lot of stationary documentary-style shots to create a feeling as if you're there.
My task for this project was to purchase a full setup of equipment to facilitate this family to shoot in their own home. This meant I had to consider multiple things: 1) ease of use, 2) durability (as they have multiple children running around the home), and 3) highest production quality. The limitations of the home proved difficult in terms of depth and lighting, but their sunroom definitely worked out great.
In addition to handling lighting and audio for production, my job was to negotiate pricing and work with the leadership team to develop a video marketing strategy. This consisted of intense research, networking, and educating the client on the best solution to their needs; to reach as many people as possible.
The Dallas Dads are a friendly, cooperative multimedia production company based in sunny Dallas, Texas. My role in this business was called: "The Business Dad". I handled the day-to-day financial operations, managed the calendar, led the meetings, handled budgets, set and measured goals, held sales meetings, negotiated prices for projects, and developed video strategies for clients.
Partnering with Likable Art, the Dallas Dads handled the writing, editing, and a chunk of the animation to put together a total of 80 minutes of finished content. I was in charge of budgeting our time and resources to ensure our income matched the value we were providing as well as the entire production and animation assembly using Final Cut Pro.
My role in this project was budgeting, logistics, and lighting. As the director explained his vision for this project, I was able to make it come to fruition through the use of lighting, especially to convey the specific mood of this piece. The client has a specific brand image that they work to preserve so the use of lighting allowed for that to be fulfilled.
